ENGIE Pro is a major player and a key partner in the energy transition for professionals, supplying electricity and gas to small and medium-sized businesses in France. 150 employees support 450,000 electricity and gas customers on a daily basis.
The website receives around 200,000 users on average and generates just over 300,000 sessions per month.
Challenge
Before working with Addingwell, ENGIE Pro faced two main challenges:
- Continuing to collect data in compliance with analytics regulations
- Improving the quality of data collection
Solution
To address these challenges, our partner Converteo supported ENGIE Pro in implementing a server-side tracking architecture. The objective was not an isolated use case, but a broader measurement strategy. The server-side implementation was structured in several key steps.
1) Analytics migration and GA4 scoping
ENGIE Pro took advantage of the project to migrate from Universal Analytics to GA4, starting with the configuration of GA4 tags.
2) Server-side architecture setup
- Configuration of the server-side architecture
- Validation of filtering rules
3) Dual tracking and gap analysis
- Implementation of dual tracking tags
- Configuration of a parallel property
- Gap analysis between the two properties
Once the results were deemed conclusive, ENGIE Pro disabled the legacy tags and fully switched to the new architecture.
4) Ad blocker bypass & progressive media tag migration
The core data foundation (GA4 and server-side architecture) was deployed within a few weeks.
In a second phase, an additional rollout was carried out, including the implementation of third-party cookie persistence and an ad blocker bypass.This step enabled Engie Pro to significantly strengthen measurement reliability, improve user identification, and sustainably secure conversion tracking, even in constrained environments.
